2H4A7215.jpg

I shot Magalí’s portrait this morning at her Barcelona apartment, while outside in the street a heavy rain was falling.
Magalí is a wonderful jazz singer and double bass player.
That’s what jazz musician and conductor Joan Chamorro says about her:
It is impossible to remain indifferent whilst listening to Magalí singing. Her voice is special, uniquely beautiful, and combines sweetness and character in a balanced way, instinctively, I would say. [...] She has a very particular way of approaching tempo and melodies, reading them in a special way and confronting a score as if compass bars did not exist”

new portrait: Anna Sanchez by Toni Ricart

Anna Sanchez is trained in classical ballet, jazz, and contemporary techniques (Graham and Limon). Her style combines technique, expression, and changes in energy, creating a free and dynamic movement quality. In her work, a glance or small gesture is just as important as a difficult turn, a leap, or a fall to the ground.
From 1985 to 1990 she was artistic director of the Anna Sanchez Dance Company. Currently she directs the Inconnexa dance company, founded in 2002, and she has directed Varium dance school in Barcelona since 1987.
From 2000-2010 she was Artistic Director of the International Dance Festival “Dancing Sant Cugat”.
